Redhat disk druid after install

Users run it only within the Fedora installation system. Disk Druid displays the following actions in the installation program:. New Select this option to add a partition or LVM physical volume to the disk. In the Add partition dialog, choose a mount point and a partition type. If you have more than one disk on the system, choose which disks the partition may inhabit.

Indicate a size in megabytes for the partition. If you wish to encrypt the partition, select that option. Fixed size Use a fixed size as close to your entry as possible. Partition Sizes The actual partition on the disk may be slightly smaller or larger than your choice. Disk geometry issues cause this effect, not an error or bug. Select the Encrypt partition option to encrypt all information on the disk partition. After you enter the details for your partition, select OK to continue.

If you chose to encrypt the partition, the installer prompts you to assign a passphrase by typing it twice. For hints on using good passphrases, refer to Chapter 11, Set the Root Password.

Select this option to edit an existing partition, LVM volume group, or an LVM physical volume that is not yet part of a volume group. To change the size of a LVM physical volume partition, first remove it from any volume groups. Edit a partition to change its size, mount point, or file system type. Use this function to:. If you need to make drastic changes to your partition configuration, you may want to delete partitions and start again.

If your disk contains data that you need to keep, back it up before you edit any partitions. If you edit the size of a partition, you may lose all data on it. If your system contains many separate partitions for system and user data, it is easier to upgrade your system. The installation program allows you to erase or retain data on specific partitions.

To change the partition's mount point, enter the new mount point in the space provided. Select Individual Packages? Locate the package compat-glibc Also locate the Pdksh Continue with the installation selecting to have the server boot to your preferred desktop Gnome or KDE.

When the OS reboots after the install, select the correct kernel for you system. Log on as root and run the Red Hat update program. The Update Agent will check all the installed packages against the latest versions and update any needed packages. The Update Agent will also update the kernel to one optimized for the server processor. It is important that you select the kernel for update, as the default is to exclude the kernel. The first time you run the Update Agent it may take quite a while to complete.

Once the Update Agent has completed, reboot the server to begin using the updated packages. The next step is to verify that all packages meet the minimum requirements to install Oracle Application Server 10g.

As you can see from my example above, this server has greater than the 1 GB memory and greater that 1. There is also plenty of disk space for the installation of both the Infrastructure and Middle tiers. For performance reasons you should install the Infrastructure on a separate server but for this example both the Infrastructure and the Middle tier will be installed on a single server.

Next verify that the kernel is greater than errata At the time of this install the current errata is If your kernel is not greater than 25, rerun the Update Agent and select the kernel for update. Next we need to verify the other packages. The easiest way to do this is to use the rpm utility. If you pass in the?

If you only pass in the? You can also use the grep utility to limit the return of the? Ensure that the packages are greater than the minimum required. If you ran the Update Agent all packages should be greater than the minimum required. The last two packages must be installed. If rpm does not return anything for pdksh and compat-glibc, you must install them. To install a package from the cdrom use the rpm utility.
